I've noticed that you can get a feel for how society, at least within your circle of friends, is operating, by the amount of Facebook "likes" given proportional to topic. And I can tell you, NOTHING garners "likes" like leaving the country. I posted that I will be in Kenya for a few weeks, flying out today, and I'm up to 15+ likes in no time. People love when you get away from them, apparently?
